By summer 2011 I had bought a Jon boat to store and use on the Kensico Reservoir. This was a great investment – as long as you can get a spot (there are limited boat access “tokens”), it costs less than $1,000 to have your own boat on a reservoir for life. If you’re interested, I bought mine from Jack Stewart of Stewart Marine (he drives a hard bargain…). Remember, though, you need a token and you have to have your boat steam cleaned by the DEP prior to placing it in a boat access area on the reservoir, plus, you can’t move your boat from one access area or reservoir to another – not allowed. As you could see, this particular reservoir (Kensico) is a phenomenal bass fishery. I’m glad I chose it. My favorite thing about the Kensico is that it is only about a 15 minute drive from my house.
